“ Neil: What’s gonna happen in America is what happened to disco. Suddenly everyone is gonna says ‘oh God, I fucking hate this’.”
Chris:But America always has to rebrand dance music because they can’t let it be known as disco, so every few years they have to come up with a new word to describe disco.
Neil: When we did that remix album, we called it ‘Disco’ because we were told in America you can not call your music ‘Disco’. So we called it ‘Disco’.
Here is the new Five Tracks mix. It features six songs. I am becoming increasingly bad at counting the number of songs needed for one of these mixes. This one’s a bit faster than the last few and it captures what I’d consider a “peak time” sound for a nu disco night. I hope you enjoy it.

This is a last-gasp-of-summer sort of edition of Five Tracks, all anthemic riffs, pumping fists and sing-a-long bits. I’ve been sitting on that Basoski remix of “Star on 45” for too long, sneaking it into live broadcasts without putting it to tape and I figured it was about time. No real cleverness here, just some boshing tunes. You can, as always, right-click here to download.
