Disco Potential is a music blog devoted (but not limited to) disco, house and synthpop records. It is maintained by Kevin Church, who also writes comics, occasionally talks about other people's work, takes pictures and does internet marketing for hire.

If you have a record you think would fit in here, email a link/mp3 to kevin@discopotential.com

Disco Potential has had a monthly residency at River Gods in Cambridge, MA featuring the sort of music presented here, mixed live. The final event will be held on Friday, June 7.

In addition to Disco Potential, Kevin also maintains the Agreeable Comics tumblr, which acts as an adjunct to his small publishing concern as well as They Boldly Went, a tumblr dedicated to Star Trek: The Original Series. His personal tumblr is located here.

DJamSinclar & TheChocolateOne, “Cuddles”

The big orchestral pop sample that acts as the base for this record is really familiar to us and we can’t place it. Someone care to help us out? (Also, we really like this. Nice and boshy without being too stupid.)

Bartouze & Solidisco, “Wanna Give”

Solidisco’s always… solid (sorry) and this tight disco house number has some French touch flourishes that help its tight, techy groove feel anything but monotonous. They should do more records with Bartouze

Cerronne featuring Jocelyn Brown, “Hooked On You” (DJamSinclar Fresh Mix)

Our favorite Uruguayan producer takes a 1980 single by the French disco legend and tweaks and modernizes it just about perfectly.

Classixx, “Holding On”

Funky, shuffly nu-disco/disco house that will hold up well through the year.

Two Burning Men, “Discophilia”

A great record to keep your peak time crowd moving, if you have such a thing. You can get the EP featuring this and four other tracks for free if you go to the label’s Soundcloud page.

De La Phunk, “Just Can’t Forget”

From their new EP on Disco Future Records (which is available right here for free download when you mouse over the individual track names) comes this seemingly-restrained piece of disco house that explodes almost exactly at the halfway point. A fine example of build and release.

Anna Lunoe & Flume, “I Met You” (Jessie Andrews)

Clocking in at a rather swift 128 bpm, Jessie Andrews turns a quite nice record into a big-room extravaganza. Fantastic drum sounds and swooshing noises on this, to say nothing of the vocal treatments. Just a great track overall.
