Disco Potential is a music blog devoted (but not limited to) disco, house and synthpop records. It is maintained by Kevin Church, who also writes comics, occasionally talks about other people's work, takes pictures and does internet marketing for hire.

If you have a record you think would fit in here, email a link/mp3 to kevin@discopotential.com

Disco Potential has had a monthly residency at River Gods in Cambridge, MA featuring the sort of music presented here, mixed live. The final event will be held on Friday, June 7.

Click here to view every Disco Potential mix currently available.
(If you scroll down, there is a list featuring links to individual ones.) Collect them all!

In addition to Disco Potential, Kevin also maintains the Agreeable Comics tumblr, which acts as an adjunct to his small publishing concern as well as They Boldly Went, a tumblr dedicated to Star Trek: The Original Series. His personal tumblr is located here.

Attar! (Featuring Cherry), “The Fool” (Pete Oak Remix)

The original is rather excellent, as Renaud Deru’s productions tend to be, but Pete Oak’s takes the track into sonic canyons where deep bass and mammoth synths dominate the soundscape and vocals are chopped and distorted into new shapes.

A bit melancholy, this one, and probably our best in months, if we say so ourselves.

Tracklisting:
1. You Don’t Love Me - BlackBirdz
2. Skin & Bone - Marlon Hoffstadt and HRRSN
3. Nothing Compares 2 U (Nelue Rework) - Sinead O’Connor
4. VIP (Haze-M Remix) - Saccao
5. Hell Could Freeze (Skream Remix) - Rudimental

Download from Soundcloud if you enjoy it, share if you really enjoy it. Thank you!

Du Tonc, “Rise”

We’ve already sang our paeans to Matt Van Schie and Mighty Mouse’s Du Tonc project, so just assume that we absolutely love this.

Ginuwine, “Pony” (Viceroy “Jet Life” Remix)

Sally Shapiro, “This City’s Local Italo Disco DJ Has A Crush On Me” (Little Boots Discotheque Remix)

From Elsewhere, the remix companion to Somewhere Else comes this take by Little Boots that, appropriately, makes the best track on the Shapiro’s latest album a bit more dancefloor friendly. Lots of the sort of thing we like here: shimmering synths, vocals that are processed just a smidge and a minimal groove that keeps the whole thing together as it buils into something.
