Disco Potential is a music blog devoted (but not limited to) disco, house and synthpop records. It is maintained by Kevin Church, who also writes comics, occasionally talks about other people's work, takes pictures and does internet marketing for hire.

If you have a record you think would fit in here, email a link/mp3 to kevin@discopotential.com

Disco Potential has had a monthly residency at River Gods in Cambridge, MA featuring the sort of music presented here, mixed live. The final event will be held on Friday, June 7.

Nyteowl, “Love Of Mine”

Nyteowl’s Depeche-Mode-goes-Al-Green sound is a thing we like very much and he seems to finally be getting some radio support. He posted his single “Love Of Mine” (which we featured remixed by Mighty Mouse in this Five Tracks mix) on Soundcloud this week, asking for people to ping KCRW in Los Angeles to request it. So, if you’re in the KCRW listening area and like this sort of thing and want them to play it, that’s a thing you can do!

It’s been about two weeks, so hey, here’s another Five Tracks mix. This time we actually did limit it to five songs, and they’re a bit faster and more hands-in-the-air than the last few in the series. We’re actually kind of proud how this one turned out, so if you enjoy it as much as we did putting it together, reblog or use the share link below to tell your friends and neighbors. Alternately, you could just play it very loudly. We’ve been assured that this is an optimal solution. By top…people.

Right-click and “save as” to download it for the best sound quality.

  5. Just A Minute — Adam Stacks

Nyteowl, “Love Of Mine” (Hyboid Remix)

Always nice to hear a new Hyboid remix, especially when it’s in the service of someone who’s starting to really prove themselves by making completely straight-faced synthpop records in a time when everyone’s practically bathing in irony.

Nyteowl, “Love Of Mine” (Mighty Mouse Remix)

Mighty Mouse scores again with a lush, melodic, dancefloor-ready reworking of a funky retropop slow jam.
